Anyone who knows me, and has spent time talking to me about stories, knows I love a good myth. There is something about the common archetypes we find in myth that just delight the mind...
Needless to say, some of my characters are based on mythical creatures and archetypes from older stories. One, in particular, has been something of a joke in the Shaw home. The Jengu, to be exact.
My wife constantly laughs when I talk about the Jengu-Spirit Guides and their job. She laughs because for months I mislabeled them as Native American as opposed to, their rightful culture, African.
At any rate, when I remember the character who is based on the Jengu I tend to chuckle.
