Sometimes when I am in the midst of writing, I look around me and get inspiration from the awkward and unusual characteristics we humans have. Here are some of my observations:
An elderly woman with thick glasses perched on the end of her nose bobbles around--her head bouncing like a pigeon as she scoops up the last morsels of guacamole and hunts for more on the crowded guacamole-less table.
The house, filled with noisy family members, beckons an old man on to the sofa. He hides with the remote control in hand and falls into a slouched stooper.
A tall, lanky girl takes a bite of a chip and then catches her reflection in the sliding glass window. She touches her stomach and adjusts her loose fitting shirt, hiding any evidence of a belly.
A toddler waddles across the pavement and sees her dad. She scoots over closer to him and raises her hands in the air. Suddenly she looks up. Her mouth opens and eyes widen. "That's not my dad!"
A mother wanders around the dining room. Crumbs cover the floor and litter dresses the table. She looks down and sighs. She looks around the room and sees her family sitting idle. She turns away, pretending not to see the table.
